Seattle got the extra chances: 14 offensive boards to Portland's 11, and it committed fewer turnovers. Portland still won 84-82. The 6-5 fast-break margin was almost nothing; the bigger differences were Portland shooting 43% to 33% and leading points off turnovers 28-12. So Portland did not win by protecting the ball better.
